Spend a Weekend Here!

I love Tagaytay! It's near our place (I'm a South kid), the weather is perfect, the food is great and the things you see along the way are so fascinating!
Mum, Dad and I were there last June 13, together with one of Mum's best friends Tita Antoi and her husband Tito Dusko. We took their car, the all-new Mitsubishi Montero Sports. Very, very nice! I was so relaxed at the back. Imagine, Dad woke me up at 5 in the morning??? Whaaaat???!!! So I slept most of the way until Mum and Dad woke me up to ask if I wanted to eat white corn. Yum!
We had a sumptuous breakfast at Breakfast at Antonio's, our favorite hangout in Tagaytay. Here's what you can order:
1) Their melts-in-you-mouth pancakes. Don't forget the syrup!
2) Spanish sardines. So, so good!!!
3) Beef tapa. It tastes like the ostrich tapa of Cagayan de Oro. Perfectly done, I must say!
4) Tita Antoi and Tito Dus order chorizo. Wasn't bad at all too!
And before you leave, don't forget to go down their garden. See my pic? That's Tita Antoi's hand by the way. Hahaha!
After we filled our tummies with good food, would you believe we headed to Cliffhouse to eat desert at Cafe Breton??? Food fest!!! We all ordered La Pinay. Tito Dus and Dad had beer! Hala!
Going home, we passed by the Pink Sisters where we bought Angel Cookies. I love these! The nuns make them from the excess dough that they use making hosts.
Then we passed by some antique shops. Mum wants to do something with our backyard. I heard her and Dad talk about beach couches or something.
We got home before sundown. With Tagaytay, you don't really have to stay the whole day. Perfect day trip. Perfect day spent.

My Bacolod Surprise!
And to start off my Bacolod story, here is a piece of food trivia.
This type of shellfish below has a really long tongue and such a yummy taste! It's sort of like scallops, only it's bigger and juicier. Tried this dish when Mom finally took me with her to Bacolod last Wednesday. We were there with her entire team until Saturday.
We ate at the Restogrill Bar and Restaurant, much like a Dampa here in Manila. It's within the Reclaimed Area of the City of the Bacolod. The breeze was fresh and the food was super good! Try their adobong kangkong as well. Mom and I were so full after this meal that we had to go back to the hotel and sleep!

Must Try Food!
CHICKEN BACOLOD
And it should only be in AIDA's, a carinderia, amongst many other "chicken Bacolod" carinderias in the Chicken Bacolod "strip" (yes, there is actually a strip) of Bacolod. Order their petso (chicken breast) and ISOL (the chicken's ass, hahaha!), which are so outrageously delish! The Isol is just filled with juices and flavor. Mom and I took home 5 sticks (each stick has 3 pieces of Isol) for Lolo, Lola and Tito Mark to savor.
They also ordered oysters at this place. You can buy it just outside the canteen. Have vinegar mixed with soy sauce ready and viola! The perfect feast!
EEL NA MAY GATA
At first, Mom was a bit hesistant to try this dish. Mr. Paul brought her to this restaurant by the beach, similar to Iloilo's sutokil concept. The eel was cooked in coconut milk, with various types of spices and veggies. Mouth watering indeed!
Bacolod is such a great place for food lovers like Mom! No wonder she thinks she gained 5 pounds on this trip. No wonder we had to pay P700.00 as excess baggage charge! Hahaha!

Food Fest in Bacolod
Mom and Mr. RF had lunch at this nice nook in Robinsons Bacolod. According to them, they were looking for a non-fast food place where they and Mr. Paul, the brainbeam coordinator in Bacolod, could iron out all the details for their upcoming event.
Mom LOVED her tenderloin steak. The steak was very tender and super yummy! According to Mr. Paul, Bob's is the local Starbucks of Bacolod. And take note, there is only ONE Starbucks branch in Bacolod, since people mostly still go for Bob's. The branch in Robinsons Bacolod serves meals, and not just pastries and coffee, which Bob's is really famous for.
So the next time you're in Bacolod, drop by Bob's and enjoy the cozy ambiance and the delectable food!
Kuya Packy on Vacay
And so... It was I, who accompanied Mom to her first ever Bacolod trip last Thursday. She went there to do an ocular with Mr. RF for their upcoming Nestle event. Mom and I were so impressed with our hotel. We stayed at this new place called Westown Hotel. For only P1,300.00, you get this posh De Luxe room that looks straight out of a Discovery Suites catalogue. Very nice! Check me out enjoying the clean, fresh sheets.
Anyway, Mom left me at the hotel for most of our stay in Bacolod, since I was not feeling all that well too. But I'll be posting some of the pictures that Mom took. So, here we go...

Welcome the New Marcos Museum Guards
I strongly believe the creepiness stems from the operatic music that will welcome the visitors. Plus, the cold room would really send shivers down your spine. Once you're inside, you'll see a golden half-body statue of the late dictator. You won't see his body instantly. You sort of have to go around this wall, where the glass-encased Marcos lies. The four of us finally had the courage to enter the room, when we saw this kid and his mom emerge from the inside.
His body was preserved really well. You can see his veins and all that. He was really tiny! At the top part of his 'tomb' was the seal of the President of the Republic of the Philippines. What an experience! That was unforgettable.
Where To Stay If You're In Laoag
The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. He dictated all the sights we should see and how we can get to each place. Mom and Tita Jen really took their back-packing thing seriously. They had no agenda but just took note of the places. So much fun!!!
Downstairs, there's this place called Macy's Diner, where Mom, Tita Jen, Charlie and I ate our breakfast. Order the longanisa meal. Yum! I'll attach the photo of the diner. It's fancy!
So if you do decide to go to Ilocos Norte anytime soon, check in at Hotel Tiffany! For Php950.00, you already have a room with 2 beds. The pillows were rock solid lang but other than that, no complaints. Clean, warm staff and strategic location. Enjoy your stay!
You can call Hotel Tiffany at +63777703550.

Welcome to Laoag International Airport!
The cake is for Tita Remy, the only relative we know of who still lives in Vigan. Lola bought this Red Ribbon cake the morning we left for Ilocos. I heard Mom talking to Lola telling her that she should have just bought a smaller, square or rounded cake. Mom thought it was such a hassle to bring a loooooong one. True indeed!
Tita Jen naman brought the House of Silvanas box of ensaymadas from Lolo Arnold, also for Tita Remy. Hmm.. I should be calling her Lola Remy pala! Gaya gaya ako kay Mom!
We got there really late so no time for us to go around... Off we go to Hotel Tiffany!
Getting Ready for my ILOCOS Adventure
Charlie and I were so, so excited. We were holding hands when the plane finally took off! Ahh... the land of my Lola's forefathers. Here we come!!!

First Trip for 2009
Mom already wrote down the places we need to visit, like the old Crisologo Street, Baluarte, the Vigan Bridge and the Belltower with the rooster at its tip, and many others.
We are taking Cebu Pacific (of course!!!) and we are expected to arrive at Laoag by 7:35pm. What a late flight, right? We'll be going around Laoag first before we head off to Vigan after lunch. I will be postingmy Laoag and Vigan pictures when we get back on the 6th.
Gotta help Mom pack!
